FAQ

Questions? Good.

Everything you might want to know before trusting a product with your health — answered plainly, and cited where it counts. If your question isn’t here, a real person will answer it.

ALJA

What is ALJA?
Software you’ll log into — not a course, not a PDF, not a symptom diary. ALJA keeps your cycle, symptoms, sleep, food, movement, mood, medications and history in one record that remembers, looks across all of it for what repeats and what has changed, and helps you prepare for appointments. Bestie, the guide inside it, answers in plain language and remembers what you have told her. See what’s inside →
Is it an app or a website?
ALJA is being built as a web app you open in your browser on a phone or laptop. Mobile apps are planned to follow, on the same account and the same data.
Is it only for perimenopause?
ALJA is built first and deepest for perimenopause, because that is where the information gap is worst and where women get dismissed most. It is useful before that, too — your cycle, sleep, energy, mood, food and movement in one place that remembers — and it will recognise a change when one starts.
Does ALJA connect to my wearable or other apps?
Not at first. You record directly in ALJA, which takes under a minute a day. Bringing together more of the information women already collect elsewhere is central to what we are building toward, and we will announce specifics only when they are real rather than planned.
How much time does it take?
A daily check-in takes well under a minute, or you can just tell Bestie in a sentence. Guided programs run 12–22 minutes and you can stop after one step. ALJA gets more useful the longer you use it, not more demanding.
What if I miss a week?
Nothing is lost and nothing resets. Your record is still yours, your plan is still there, and Bestie still remembers. A bad month is exactly when this should be easy to come back to.

Bestie, and the name change

What happened to Bestie OS?
It’s now called ALJA. Same product, same team, same evidence standards — Bestie OS was the name while it was being built. Links you already have to the old page still work.
Is Bestie still there?
Yes. Bestie is the guide inside ALJA — the warm, well-read voice you know from Perimenopause Bestie. She remembers what you have logged and told her, answers in plain language, and always points you toward appropriate professional care. You can see everything she remembers, and delete any of it.
Is Perimenopause Bestie going away?
No. Perimenopause Bestie is the education and community you already follow — the carousels, the Peri Brief, the Starter Guide. It continues, and it is how most women will discover ALJA. How the names fit together →

The waitlist, and what it will cost

How much is it?
ALJA isn’t open yet, and the waitlist is free. No card, no subscription. When ALJA opens it will be a paid membership, and we would rather tell you that up front. Founding Members on the waitlist get first access and a founding offer. We will publish exactly what it costs before anything costs anything, and nothing will ever charge you without you choosing it. What the waitlist gets you →
Why is there a waitlist instead of a launch?
Because ALJA is being built with the women who use it. A small private testing group uses early builds and tells us what actually helps, what they never touched, and what is missing — before this is finished rather than after. Everyone on the waitlist shapes what comes next through the form and our emails.
What happens when ALJA opens?
Everyone on the waitlist hears first. Founding Members are offered the founding terms before anyone else, and we will say plainly what they are. Nothing will start charging you automatically, because we hold no card — joining is something you actively choose, and if you don’t, no payment happens.
How is the testing group chosen?
From the waitlist, in small groups. We aim for a mix of stages and experiences so the feedback reflects real women rather than one type, and the optional question on the form helps us do that. Not everyone on the waitlist will be invited to test early builds, but everyone on it hears first when ALJA opens.
How do I get in?
Join the waitlist on the ALJA page. ALJA isn’t open to everyone yet. A small group is invited to test early builds so we can actually read the feedback, and everyone on the list hears first when it opens. The free Starter Guide arrives straight away.
What’s the refund policy?
There is nothing to refund today, because the waitlist is free. Once paid membership opens, it is covered by our refund policy.

Trust & safety

Has this been reviewed by a doctor?
Not yet, and we won’t say otherwise. Our content is written from clinical guidance and published research and carries its sources, but no clinician has formally reviewed and signed off on ALJA. We are establishing that process and will name reviewers on our evidence standards page once it is genuinely done.
Is this medical advice?
No. ALJA is built to make you a more informed, better-prepared partner to your own clinician, and important claims are cited so you can check them. Educational information only — not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Perimenopause Bestie and ALJA are not a substitute for care from a qualified healthcare professional.
Does ALJA tell me what is causing my symptoms?
No. ALJA shows you what repeats and what has changed in your own data, with the days it counted. Two things showing up together is an association worth noticing and raising with a healthcare professional — not proof that one caused the other, and never a diagnosis.
What if something I describe is actually serious?
Some symptoms deserve assessment by a healthcare professional, and ALJA will always encourage appropriate care rather than trying to diagnose you. Please don’t put off getting seen because a symptom might be perimenopause. Educational information only — not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Perimenopause Bestie and ALJA are not a substitute for care from a qualified healthcare professional. If you may be experiencing a medical emergency, contact your local emergency services.
What happens to my health data?
It’s yours. We don’t sell it or share it with advertisers, what you record in ALJA is kept out of our marketing systems, and you can export your complete record or delete your account yourself, from settings. The privacy policy has the full detail, including how AI processing works.
Who made this?
Jenna — an engineer who watched her mom navigate perimenopause with almost no answers, and realised the science her mom needed was already sitting in research papers nobody translates. She built Perimenopause Bestie, and now ALJA, so no woman has to go through it guessing. Read the story →
